Occurrence is an upland pine forest with sparse ground vegetation blending adjacently to the west into a pine forest with thick Vaccinium and sedge ground cover. Occurence is bounded to the east by a small dry run. Downslope the community forms into a more deciduous forest and upslope into a perdominantly Table Mt. Pine forest with thick Vaccinium ground cover. Entire site is within a national forest.;Fairly open woodland of predominantly VA pine. Ground cover sparse consisting of patches of sedge and lichens among a thick litter surface. Vegetation is fairly homogeneous with Arabis serotina occurring in only one location.
Representativeness
Quite representative of the shale barren community of this site (which is quite small). The plot contained the only Arabis serotina located at the site. Nearby at a higher elevation we located Psuedotaenida and a lot of table mountain pine.
